Hummingbird
This capture of a Ruby throated hummingbird feeding on a bee balm flower is notable for the iridescent detail of its head feathers as its tongue feeds on the nectar within. These miracles of nature flap their wings at an astonishing 60 beats per second. Each winter over 300 species of hummingbirds migrate over land to the southern border of the US and then fly nonstop over 500 miles over the Caribbean Sea to Central America.
